How to Fix Steam Errors on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS

To fix Steam errors you need to try to run Steam end of each steps.

How to Fix Steam Errors on Ubuntu 17.04, Ubuntu 16.10, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, Linux Mint 18, Linux Mint 17, Elementary OS, Deepin and other Ubuntu Derivative Systems.

First you need you install steam on your system to do that read this How to Install Steam on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS

STEAM Errors:

Steam doesn’t respond when you click on Steam icon or there is a steam window on screen but no logging screen.
To fix this errors read the Step 1, 2 & 3.

Step 1: Launch a terminal window (ctrl+alt+t), and type the code (you can copy – paste the code):

LD_PRELOAD='/usr/$LIB/libstdc++.so.6 /usr/$LIB/libgcc_s.so.1 /usr/$LIB/libxcb.so.1 /usr/$LIB/libgpg-error.so' steam

Try to run steam now. It will update itself.

If Steam doesn’t respond when you click on Steam icon or there is a steam window on screen but no logging screen again. Check step 2

Adım 2:
Launch a terminal window (ctrl+alt+t), and type the code (you can copy – paste the code):

 

cd $HOME/.steam/steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/i386/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu

Then in terminal window type the code (you can copy – paste the code):

mv libstdc++.so.6 libstdc++.so.6.bak

After then in terminal window type the code (you can copy – paste the code):

cd $HOME/.steam/steam/ubuntu12_32/steam-runtime/amd64/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu

Then in terminal window type the code (you can copy – paste the code):

mv libstdc++.so.6 libstdc++.so.6.bak

Now try to run Steam. To do that click on the Unity Dash and type Steam and click on it. It will update itself.

Step 3: After Steam updates itself. You may get the same errors. (I don’t know why but update changes the settings that we try to fix in step 1 & 2 at this point i got the same errors what i did is this.) Don’t worry. Just restart your system. And after restart try to run Steam. To do that click on the Unity Dash and type Steam and click on it. If it doesn’t run again try to run this following code:

LC_ALL=C steam

Or Repeate the Step 1 & 2
Now you can play CSGO on your Linux Steam.
