How to Install Steam on Ubuntu, Linux Mint, Elementary OS

How to install Steam on Ubuntu 17.04, Ubuntu 16.10, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, Linux Mint 18, Linux Mint 17, Elementary OS, Deepin and other Ubuntu Derivative Systems.

First you need .dep package to install Steam.
Click here to download the .deb package.

After then launch a terminal window (ctrl+alt+t), and type the code (you can copy – paste the code):

cd ~/Downloads

Then in the terminal window type the code (you can copy – paste the code):

sudo dpkg -i steam_latest.deb

Enter, root password.

Now run the Steam. To do that click on the Unity Dash and type Steam and click on it.


Or in terminal window type

steam

When it opens, it tries to update itself.

PS: Errors; if Steam doesn’t run when you click on the icon or it opens but there  is no login screen or window; try this:

Launch a terminal window (ctrl+alt+t), and type the code and try this (you can copy – paste the code):

LC_ALL=C steam

If STEAM still doesn’t run again check this post too fix it.
